The Supreme Court has ruled that Samuel Anyanwu is the rightful National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Anyanwu is a close ally of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This decision cancels previous court rulings that tried to remove Anyanwu from his position. The Supreme Court said that leadership issues within a political party are not for the courts to decide unless there is a special reason, like a crime or a violation of the Nigerian Constitution.
This ruling strengthens Wike’s influence in the PDP and weakens his political opponents who wanted someone else in the position.
Meanwhile, the PDP in Abia State has expelled Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees. Wabara was removed after a disciplinary committee investigated him. His removal may be linked to his support for the Labour Party’s governor, Alex Otti.
This situation adds to the ongoing power struggle in the PDP, especially between Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
