Support Nwoko and Oborevwori: Opia Appeals for Focus on Delta North Development

In a passionate appeal, Comrade Opia Joshua Ojieh, leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Ndokwa Nation, has called for unity among Deltans, particularly those in Delta North, urging them to give Senator Ned Nwoko and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori the necessary support to carry out their first-term mandates.

During a meeting at his Kwale residence, Opia, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, stressed that Senator Nwoko’s efforts, particularly in addressing the power challenges in Ndokwa, deserve commendation, not unnecessary distractions.

He highlighted that the senator’s push for the completion of the Independent Power Plant (IPP) projects is crucial for the development of Ndokwa Nation, which has suffered from a lack of steady electricity for over two decades despite being home to several international companies. Unlike other politicians from the region, Opia noted, Nwoko has consistently advocated for resolving these long-standing issues.

Opia also dismissed rumors of a rift between Nwoko and Oborevwori, attributing the claims to political mischief-makers. He emphasized that the senator’s requests for the state government’s intervention in projects such as the IPP and Ogwashi-Uku Dam were essential for the development of Delta North and should not be interpreted as signs of conflict.

The political leader also addressed recent criticisms directed at Nwoko, particularly from Hon. Obule, urging Obule to focus on his local government rather than meddling in Delta North politics. Opia reiterated that Nwoko, as the only PDP senator in Delta State, deserves the full support of the party and the people.

Looking ahead, Opia refuted rumors of an agreement for former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to return to the Senate, stating that after Nwoko’s second term, Ndokwa Nation should produce the next senator from Delta North. He underscored the importance of respecting the district’s ethnic rotation, with Ndokwa Nation having its rightful turn following Ika and Aniocha/Oshimili representation.

Opia urged Deltans to stand behind Nwoko and Governor Oborevwori, as both leaders continue working towards fulfilling their mandates for Delta North and the entire state.
