Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the Federal Government to stop the politicization of insecurity in the country.
In a statement that was made available to newsmen on Thursday, March 18, 2021, his special assistant on media, Kelvin Ebiri maintains how Wike said politicizing insecurity has led the states into an unimaginable scale of banditry that will not end soon.
Gov. Wike, while stressing further recalls the experience he had in Rivers State about insecurity in 2015 when he runs to the FG, he maintains that, instead of the support that was to be given to him, the FG dismissed its plea out of hatred and desire to see the state been ungovernable.
The governor further maintains that “They didn’t send special forces to Rivers as they did to other states at the moment.
He continued, “They didn’t support me because they didn’t want the state to be governed.
Wike stressed that “Banditry will never end since they’ve politicized the issue of security. He added, I told them not to politicize the issues of security.
He also added, “They’re paying the price. Whatever you sow, you will reap. If you sow peace, you’ll reap peace, if you sow trouble, trouble will always be with you.”
Wike went further to blame the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Army Staff while insisting that, it is difficult to fight crime in situations when cultists are arrested, people go to Abuja to explain and bargain just to secure their release of the law.
While speaking further, Wike emaciated how $1 billion was allegedly diverted, the money meant for the procurement of weapons can’t be unaccounted for after it was successfully withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account. He said it is a shameful practice under the watch of a government that claims that they are fighting corruption.
Wike in his words said, “Now, the National Security Adviser claimed they misquoted him. I tell you, nobody is misquoting anything, we are aware that there was no weapon.
He also said, “The National Security Adviser says the $1 billion they took from our Excess Crude Account even without paying our 1 percent derivation is gone. According to him, they said they’ve not seen the weapons.
Wike also went further to say that, “Even the Chief of Army Staff said he didn’t collect money. So where did the money go?
He continued, even the press is not talking about it, even when they knew that the government said they are fighting corruption.
