Michael Stephens, a popular Nigerian rapper known as Ruggedman, was taken to a police station called SCID Panti in Yaba, Lagos. This was said by a human rights helper named Harrison Gwamnishu on Instagram.
Mr. Gwamnishu said Ruggedman is being kept at the police station because of a fight with a group called PMAN. PMAN stands for Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria. It’s a group that looks after musicians and their work.
According to Mr. Gwamnishu, the police are not treating Ruggedman well, and they haven’t done a proper investigation to find out the real story yet. He wants everyone in Nigeria to know about this and pay attention.
This trouble started after PMAN said Ruggedman and some other musicians were suspended from the group in August 2024. PMAN said they were punished because they broke some rules.
At the time, reporters tried to talk to Ruggedman and the police to hear their side, but no one answered.
So, right now, people are waiting to see what will happen next and hope Ruggedman is treated fairly.
