ABUJA, April 7, 2025 – The Federal Government is preparing to send some important Nigerians to represent the country as ambassadors in other countries.
Among those chosen for this big role are former governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State. Also on the list are Senator Shehu Sani and Reno Omokri, who used to work as a special assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
These men are well-known for their work in government, and now they may soon be working as Nigeria’s official representatives to other countries.
Right now, security agencies are carefully checking their backgrounds to make sure everything is in order before the final list is released. This is called a security screening, and it’s something that must happen before anyone is officially announced as an ambassador.
A government official who didn’t want to be named said: “They are doing security checks with the Department of State Services (DSS). When that is done, we will announce the names.”
It’s been almost a year since Nigeria called back all its ambassadors from around the world. Since then, no new ones have been sent out, and many people were worried that this might affect Nigeria’s relationship with other countries.
Now, the government is working to fix that by choosing new ambassadors, and a full list is expected before the end of the month.
Ambassadors are very important because they help Nigeria talk and do business with other countries. They live in foreign countries and speak for Nigeria there.
Once the new list is complete and security checks are done, the names will be officially made public. Everyone is waiting to see who will be chosen to represent Nigeria around the world.
