In what happened as a security breach during Teni’s performance in Rivers State recently, the Rivers State Police Command has said the incident was due to the absence of police operatives at the venue, a place in the Degema environment of the state.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the State command, Grace Iringe-Koko, who said the organizers of the event failed to apply to the police for security operatives at the venue.
Recall that eyewitnesses had shared a now-viral video of unknown assailants firing their guns into the air at the venue and alleging it to be attempted kidnapping.
But the police spokesperson had earlier debunked claims stating that the gunfire was from private security agents who fired to disperse restive miscreants at the venue.
Fringe-Koko wrote: “No police officer from Rivers State Command fired any gunshot that day. Normally, if they have such an event they are supposed to write an application to the Commissioner of Police. Then the CP would direct the Area Commander covering the Degema axis. The Area Commander would then assign it to the Divisional Police Officer at Buguma that will cover the event. But there was no application of such. Perhaps the DPO and his men strolled around to the venue while on patrol. But there was no application for such security that day.”
