President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Science, Kwale, Delta State, and six other tertiary institutions within the country.
The president said the approval is in line with the present Administration’s commitment to ensure continuity in governance and policy consistency.
This approval was announced in a statement on Friday, October 20, 2023, by Obilor-Duru Augustina Okechi, the Assistant Director, of Press and Public Relations for the Honourable Minister of Education.
According to the statement, the establishment involves the conversion of two Colleges of Education into Federal Universities of Education, Federal Universities of Agriculture, Federal Universities of Medical and Health Science, and three Colleges of Education.
The statement also states that the establishment and conversion of these institutions is a further demonstration of President Tinubu’s Education for the Renewed Hope Agenda and will help in improving access to tertiary education in the country.
The approved institutions for which the establishment process would commence immediately are the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, Delta State, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, Adamawa State.
Collages of Education converted to Federal Universities of Education, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State, and Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State.
The three new College of Education, Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti, Ekiti State, Federal College of Education, Ididep, Ibiono, Akwa Ibom State, and Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
