Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is once again facing legal trouble. Recently, officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority visited his bar, Odogwu Bar, located in Sango-Ota. Their mission was to inspect whether the building complied with regulations.
However, things took a violent turn when Portable and his associates allegedly attacked the officials, preventing them from carrying out their duties. The officials reported that the singer’s group was armed with cutlasses and guns, escalating the situation further.
Nine Associates Arrested
Following the incident, the police arrested nine of Portable’s associates, who were later taken to court. They were charged with assault and obstruction of government officials. The court ruled that they could be released on bail set at N5 million each, provided they had credible sureties to vouch for them. Their trial is scheduled to begin on March 17, 2025.
Portable on the Run
While his associates have been detained, Portable himself is currently missing. Authorities have launched a search operation to locate and arrest him.
Not His First Brush With the Law
This is not the first time Portable has had legal issues. In March 2023, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting police officers. He was later taken to court and released after meeting certain conditions.
What’s Next?
With this latest incident, Portable is facing even more legal challenges. The authorities remain firm in ensuring that the law is upheld and that actions like these are properly addressed. If caught and found guilty, the singer could face serious legal consequences.
