A police inspector identified as Jonathan Kampani attached to the Mounted Troop of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State has been dismissed after firing a 45-year-old man, Jelili Bakare to death.
It was gathered that Kampani killed Bakare, a 45-year-old businessman after demanding to know why he wanted to search him at a spot where he was relaxing at Quinox Lounge in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State on March 18, 2021.
In a statement by the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi stated that the Lagos State Police Command has dismissed one AP No. 278055 Inspector Jonathan Kampani attached to the Mounted Troop of the Nigerian Police Force for firing at and killed one Jelili Bakare at the Quinox Lounge, Sangotedo area of Lagos State, on March 18, 2021.
According to a letter numbered AR. 3100/LS/SPM/vol.2/321 dated April 16, 2021, that was conveyed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Kampani will be prosecuted as advised by the Department of Public Prosecution Lagos.
However, the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has promised that justice would be done in the matter after he ordered the arrest and organized room examination of the inspector after the incident.
Also, on Saturday, March 27, 2021, the CP had already instructed a team of senior officers on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at the Chief Bakare’s House, Ajiranland, Eti-Osa Local Government Area. of Lagos State.
