Police Finally Release MC 2Kingdom After Public Outcry

In a dramatic turn of events, popular Isoko comedian MC 2Kingdom has been released from police custody, just 24 hours after Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas intervened.

MC 2Kingdom, whose real name is Ajiriioghene Otagba, was arrested after he posted a Facebook video exposing the abandoned 132/33KVA substation in Ozoro, Delta State. The electricity project, meant to improve power supply in the Isoko region, has reportedly been left unfinished for years.

Why Was He Arrested?

MC 2Kingdom’s video called out Matthew Edevbie, the contractor handling the project for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Shortly after, police arrested him in what many believe was an attempt to silence him.

Edevbie allegedly accused MC 2Kingdom of defamation and cyberstalking—which means using the internet to say things that could damage someone’s reputation. After his arrest, he was first taken to Lagos and later moved to Abuja.

People Fought for His Release

Many Isoko people, including political leaders, social media influencers, and fellow comedians, spoke out against the arrest, saying it was unfair. They argued that instead of arresting MC 2Kingdom, the authorities should focus on completing the abandoned power project.

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas stepped in, and with increasing public pressure, MC 2Kingdom was finally released from police custody.

MC 2Kingdom Speaks After Release

After his release, MC 2Kingdom thanked everyone who stood by him. In a powerful statement, he said:

“The freedom of Isoko has begun from now. Any contractor or leader causing pain to the people should be ready.”

His words suggest that this may be the beginning of more activism in Isoko, where citizens demand transparency and accountability from leaders and contractors handling public projects.

This event has sent a strong message—people are watching, and they will not stay silent when public funds meant for development go to waste.
