Police arrest a female suspect with gun in Delta

The Delta State Police Command arrested a female suspect identified as Blessing Oghule, in possession of one fabricated English Berreta pistol with five rounds of live 9mm ammunition.

The command also arrested an armed robbery suspect with sixty rounds of 7.62mm (Ak47) live ammunition that was hidden inside a pair of canvas shoes and some suspected cultists who were also in possession of locally-made revolver pistols, battle-axe, and another exhibit.

This was disclosed by the Spokesperson of the State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement in Asaba, the state capital on Monday, 25, October 2021.

According to the statement, DSP Edafe noted that “On 24/10/2021 at about 1400hrs, The DPO Ufuoma division received a distressed call from vigilante that there was a cult clash between Aiye and Aro baggar cult group in Ufuoma Community. The DPO immediately led patrol teams to the scene, the cultist on sighting the police took to their heels but one Happy Ighorowhodje ‘m’ aged 32yrs of Aiye cult group who had been injured with a machete was arrested and one locally-made revolver pistol with five rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him. He was taken to general hospital Ughelli where he was treated and discharged. The suspect and exhibit are in custody while a manhunt for fleeing suspects is ongoing.” DSP Edafe added.

Again, the police spokesperson noted that “On 21/10/2021 at about 0900hrs Dragon Patrol team 29 while on stop and search duty along Warri-Sapele road by Mercy City Effurun intercepted one silver-colored commuter Toyota picnic space bus with reg no LSD 324 DO heading from Warri to Sapele. Upon search of the vehicle and occupants, sixty (60) rounds of 7.62mm (Ak47) live ammunition concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes was recovered from one of the passengers named Patrick Anthony ‘m’ aged 36yrs of Arunton quarters Escravos. The investigation is ongoing” he said.

While explaining further, he also explained that “On 21/10/21 at about 1415hrs, the Command raider operatives in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of police Delta state, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, PSC+ raided black spots at Abraka axis in Asaba. During the raid, four (4) suspects namely Blessing Oghule ‘ft, Nweke Abudi ‘ft, Ebuka Paul ‘m’, and Sunday Inuse ‘m’ were arrested. One (1) English Beretta pistol with five (5) live 9mm ammunition, five (5) suspected stolen phones, one handbag containing weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, one (1) nylon bag containing substances suspected to be ice, and ten (10) wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine were recovered from Blessing Oghule.”

He also explained that “On 20/10/2021 at about 2330hrs operatives of the Command Anti-cult unit (SACU) acting on a tip-off stormed Obiaruku in Ukwuani LGA and raided a suspected cultists hideout. During the raid, seven (7) suspects were arrested and one (1) locally made short gun, one battle axe, cutlass, knife, and charms were recovered from them. Suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.” The police spokesperson stated.
