A Nigerian pastor, Apostle Festus Alilu, has been arrested after criticizing another pastor, Pastor Korede Komaiya, over his teachings about prosperity.
Apostle Alilu is the leader of Word of Power Gospel Church International in Ughelli, Delta State. He was arrested by the police on Thursday night after making a video in which he accused Pastor Komaiya of misleading church members.
What Did Apostle Alilu Say?
In his video, Apostle Alilu said that Pastor Komaiya, who leads The Master’s Place International Church, was teaching people that they could become rich if they gave more money to the church through offerings and tithes.
Alilu warned that such teachings might be tricking people into giving money in the hope of becoming rich, which he called fake prosperity teachings.
He also mentioned a well-known activist, Omoyele Sowore, who has been speaking out against some Nigerian pastors. Sowore often says that many pastors take advantage of their followers by making them believe that giving money to the church will bring them success.

After making the video, police officers arrested Apostle Alilu. A video of the arrest has been shared online.
Some people supported Apostle Alilu, saying he was speaking the truth, while others criticized him, saying that church matters should not be discussed publicly.
