In a significant breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended three suspects believed to be involved in the illegal trade of human organs. The arrests followed a routine stop-and-search operation on Otedola Bridge on Tuesday, October 15, during which two individuals were found with suspected human tongues.
The police identified the suspects as Isah Amohullahi, 30, and Abubakar Isah, 32, who were intercepted in a taxi. The discovery prompted further investigation, leading authorities to a third suspect, Gbolahan Temidayo, allegedly the source of the organ parts, who was apprehended at Oyingbo Market.
Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday. “The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) successfully intercepted two individuals carrying suspected human tongues during a routine check on Otedola Bridge. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Gbolahan Temidayo, who is believed to have sold the organs,” he said.
Hundeyin assured that the investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged accordingly if found guilty. The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal organ trafficking and have urged the public to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
