The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and the candidate of the All people progressive Congress have assured the members of the Delta State Anti-Cult group to be vigilant before, during, and after the Governorship Election.
He gave the assurance on Monday, March 13 when he met for the first time with the members of the Anti-Cult group in Asaba, the state capital.
According to him, “the issue of security is everybody’s business, especially politicians. frankly speaking the Police can not do it alone”, all over the world crime fighting is a collective one hence the need for inter-agency cooperation and collaboration.”
He noted that no country in the world had zero crime rate even the developed ones, noting that it can only be brought down astronomically particularly with the collaboration of stakeholders such as Anti Cult Volunteer Corps, vigilantes, and other sister security agencies playing their roles effectively.
While commending the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps for its commitment to stamping out cultism and other social vices from communities, the Senate President advised the Patrons not to condone any bad egg among its fold who would want to use the corps as a cover to engage in criminality, especially during the elections.
He said, “I will work with you, we will work together to change the face of Delta. I enjoin every man of the Anti-Cult to be professional in the discharge of his duties and desist from acts against the tenets of the formation of AVC. As crime fighters, you must smoke out moles from within who sell out intelligence to their criminal cohorts. We should not allow saboteurs to be in our midst”.
The President urged the anti-cult Volunteer Corps to carry out their duties within the ambit of the law and should be exemplary in their conduct, especially during the elections.
There is a need for security so that all those companies that have left the state will return. The government does not create jobs but we will create the enabling environment for peace and security so investors can come in and create jobs for our people.
Omo-Agege said the challenges facing the state affected everybody irrespective of ethnic or political affiliation, saying he will be fair, just, and equitable in the management of the state resources if elected
The Delta Central lawmaker stated that under him as governor, no section or part of the state would be neglected or marginalized on account of ethnicity, senatorial district, or religious affiliation.
Responding, the President in Charge of the Anti Cult Unit Delta State Chapter, Commended the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate for his outright contribution to peace and development of the state and country at large.
He promised to carry out his duty within the ambit of the law and work with all zeal alongside his men during the Governorship elections.
