Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the Senate, has openly criticized Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, making it clear they are not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Omo-Agege, both leaders should remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as APC has no interest in accepting them.
Speaking at a meeting with APC leaders in Ika South and Ika North East, Omo-Agege stated that while the party is open to welcoming other PDP figures like Senator Ned Nwoko and some lawmakers, Oborevwori and Okowa are not part of that list.
He also criticized the PDP for spreading false claims after the 2023 elections, suggesting that APC had lost its influence in Delta State. “If APC is weak, how did we win two Senate seats and two House of Representatives seats? Even the only PDP senator is preparing to join us. Doesn’t that prove we’re growing stronger?” Omo-Agege questioned.
Highlighting APC’s electoral success, Omo-Agege noted that in Delta Central, where he and Governor Oborevwori both come from, APC performed better than PDP. “We won the Senate seat, two out of three House of Representatives seats, and five out of nine seats in the House of Assembly. PDP couldn’t match that. So, which party is really more popular?” he added.
Omo-Agege accused Governor Oborevwori’s administration of trying to downplay APC’s influence in Delta, even as the party continues to gain more supporters. He reassured APC members that any internal issues within the party would be resolved before the 2027 elections. He further predicted that with PDP’s current internal crises, the party might become irrelevant in future elections.
