Ochonogor Applauds Ndoshimili Progressive Youths for Promoting Leadership in Delta

The Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, has praised the Ndoshimili Progressive Youths (NPY) for their commitment to youth development and political participation, describing their efforts as a significant step toward empowering future leaders.

Ochonogor made the commendation at the weekend during the grand inauguration of the National and Local Government executives of NPY held at Ozoma-Uku Primary School, Ashaka, Ndokwa East LGA.

He urged young people to take advantage of leadership opportunities and actively contribute to the development of their communities.

According to him, the involvement of youths in leadership strengthens communities and ensures continuity in governance. He also applauded the organisation and vision of the NPY leadership, assuring them of DESOPADEC’s support.

Founder and National Leader of NPY, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta, a member representing Ndokwa East Constituency at the state Assembly explained that the youth movement was established to unite young people across Ndoshimili, promote civic responsibility, and create a platform for political awareness and engagement.

He noted that the organisation is committed to fostering self-reliance, transparency, and structured political participation while supporting youths who are already in leadership positions or aspiring to serve.

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Day, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, commended the youth leaders for their initiative and encouraged them to remain disciplined and united.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration with experienced leaders to ensure sustainable political participation, adding that youths are not only leaders of tomorrow but also key drivers of progress today.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Onyekweli Osilonya, described the event as a homecoming and praised the youths for their organisation and commitment to development.

Similarly, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and urged them to demonstrate capacity, dedication, and unity in leadership.

High Chief Godwill Obielum, Father of the Day and APC leader in Ndokwa East, also commended the youths for their readiness to participate in leadership and assured them of the continued guidance and support of elders in the area.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, praised the youths for their mobilisation and growing role in governance.

Okowa recalled the challenges young people faced in politics decades ago and commended the current generation for breaking barriers and occupying leadership positions at both local and national levels.

He stressed that leadership is defined not by age but by commitment, sacrifice, and the willingness to serve.

“The success of young leaders today creates opportunities for others to participate meaningfully in governance and politics,” Okowa said.

The inauguration highlighted the growing influence of youths in politics and community development across Ndokwa nation.

Ochonogor, in his closing remarks, urged the newly inaugurated executives to remain committed to unity, peace, and development while drawing from the guidance of elders to strengthen their organisation and contribute to the progress of Ndoshimili and Delta State in general.
