Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has been named the eternal patron of Kegites Club, a socio-cultural group in Nigeria.
The Kenites club was established in 1962 at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The club is one of the popular socio-cultural groups in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

During the meeting, the group sympathized with the former president over the fire incident that destroyed his farm located in Benue State.
According to a statement released on the group’s Facebook page, it was gathered that the former president accepted the position of the eternal grand patron of Kegites bestowed on him.
The group also said Obasanjo approved the invitation of Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, for a gyration event ahead of his 85th birthday to celebrate him.
