Obeti, Delta State – April 11, 2025 Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North in the Nigerian Senate, said something very interesting on Friday. He said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa are trying to join the ruling political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Nwoko made this statement while visiting Obeti community in Ukwuani Local Government Area where he welcome Hon. Leo Esegbue, a former commissioner in the state from People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who decided to leave PDP and join APC, along with many of his followers.
Nwoko told the crowd, “I am happy to welcome all of you into the APC. This is just the beginning. Many more people from across Delta State will also join us soon. In fact, President Bola Tinubu will visit Delta in a few months to officially welcome all the new members in Asaba, the state capital.”
He continued by saying something surprising: “Your governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and former governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, want to join APC too. The President told me they’ve been knocking on the door, asking to come in. But we told the President that we don’t want them in APC.”
Nwoko said the reason is that they have already spent 25 years in PDP and didn’t support big plans like the creation of Anioma State, which he and APC now support. He believes the President and the National Assembly can help make Anioma State a reality.
He also talked about big development projects like the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, another new dam in Idumuje, and the Okpai Power Plant. These projects, he said, are very important for Delta North, but past and present governors didn’t support them. “They always say it’s a federal government project, but who is going to use the electricity? We are! That’s why I kept begging them to support it, but they refused,” he said.
Nwoko added, “Being in government is not about doing things for yourself. It’s about doing things for the people—like providing electricity, water, and roads.”
He told the people to invite their family and friends to join APC because, in his words, “PDP is sinking like a boat about to crash. Now that I’m in APC, I can speak directly to the President for the sake of our people.”
He also shared that the current governor once told him he would not start any new projects in Delta North, only finish the ones started by Okowa. One of those was the high court building in Asaba, which Nwoko said isn’t as important as roads, dams, and power projects.
Leo Esegbue Explains Why He Left PDP
Hon. Leo Esegbue, the man who left PDP to join APC, said he had big dreams of making his area more developed saying he wanted to bring industries, create jobs, and help young people find good work, but the leaders of PDP didn’t support his ideas.

“I offered to help for free, but they didn’t want to listen, instead, they prefers to award contract to themselves and divert the money to themselves. That’s why I left.”
When asked if he believed APC would help him achieve his goals, he said, “I will try. If they don’t, I will leave them too.”
Esegbue also gave a message to the people of Ndokwa Nation asking them to support APC and promised to speak to the President or Governor on their behalf if needed.

He ended by saying, “I want electricity, water, and jobs for my people. I don’t want girls to finish school and become hairdressers or go into prostitution. I don’t want boys doing Yahoo-Yahoo. I want everyone to get real, productive jobs. That’s my dream.”
What This Means in Simple Terms: A senator said two top Delta leaders want to join the APC party. He also said APC will bring more good things to the people, like electricity, clean water, and jobs while Hon. Leo, left his old party because he felt they were not doing enough to help the people and hope APC will do better.
