The Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has condoled with the NUJ Benue State Council over the painful and unexpected death of its Chairman, Comrade Victoria Asher.
This is contained in a statement issued by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, Chairman, and
Comrade Patrick Ochei,
Secretary,
Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
The statement which was made available to goldennationblog.com described the death of Benue’s NUJ chairman as a rude shock.
The statement reads in parts :
“Please, kindly accept the condolences of Delta State Council, even as we pray that God grants the family and the Benue Council the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss of a dear Comrade in the struggle.
“We also use this medium to console the NUJ Zone D, the National Executive Council, and the National Working Committee over the death of their member, as we also pray that such unfortunate news will never be part of our history again.
“Please, kindly accept the assurances of Delta State Council in any regard that our input will be needed to give our dear colleague a befitting burial.
It was gathered that Comrade Asher died after an unsuccessful surgery.
