Nigeria – March 7, 2025
Dr. Doyin Okupe, a well-known Nigerian doctor and politician, has died at the age of 72. He was famous for working closely with Nigerian presidents in the past and playing an important role in the country’s politics.
According to his family, Dr. Okupe had been very sick for weeks before he passed away. Reports say that he had been battling cancer for many years. In October 2023, he was taken to Israel for treatment after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Unfortunately, his health did not improve as he and his family had hoped.
Dr Okupe had been dealing with prostate cancer for 16 years and later developed another type of cancer called sarcoma, which affected his right shoulder. Despite these health challenges, he remained active in politics and public discussions until his condition worsened.
Many Nigerians remember him for his contributions to the government and his efforts to shape political conversations in the country. His passing marks the end of a long and impactful career in Nigeria’s political and medical fields.
