The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed its plan to distribute food items it has seized to help alleviate the prevalent hardships faced by Nigerians.
The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, in a statement on Tuesday stated that the distribution of the food items will take place after undergoing certification to ensure their fitness for consumption.
According to Abdullahi Maiwada, the Customs National Public Relations Officer, the Nigeria Customs Service is committed to advancing President Bola Tinubu’s food security agenda. To this end, the NCS will facilitate the direct disposal of food items that have been forfeited to the Federal Government. These items will be certified fit for consumption by relevant agencies and made available to ordinary Nigerians nationwide through equitable distribution in the NCS’s Areas of Operations.
It is important to note that the statement did not specify the exact date for the commencement of the planned distribution.
