The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has given N10 billion to help grow new businesses in the Niger Delta. This money was given to a group called the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines, and Agriculture (NDCCITMA). They will use it to start a special program that helps small business owners in the region.
The NDDC has promised to give a total of N30 billion, and this N10 billion is just the first part of the promise. The goal is to support people who own or want to start very small businesses, including nano, micro, and small-scale businesses. This includes things like selling snacks, tailoring, running small shops, and more.
The head of the NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku shared this exciting news at an event in Port Harcourt on Friday. He said the program will help 5,000 small businesses to begin with, and the money has already been sent to the chamber’s bank so they can start right away.
Dr. Ogbuku also said,
“We want to grow the Niger Delta through trade and business. This is just the beginning, and we will keep supporting the region.”
He asked all companies that work with NDDC to register with NDCCITMA before July 31, 2025. He explained that this would help them get more chances to work with NDDC in the future.
The chairman of the chamber, Mr. Idaere Ogan, also spoke during the event. He said they are ready to work hard with the NDDC to make the Niger Delta a better place.
He said,
“Our job is to help people start and grow their businesses. This will create jobs, help people learn new skills, and build a stronger economy in our region.”
The new program will help many people in the Niger Delta, especially young people and small business owners, to succeed and improve their lives.
