Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has been commended over the resumption of primary and secondary schools in the State after 6 months of lockdown due to the covid19 pandemic.
The Delta State Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Deacon Monday Ifoghere, and the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area chapter of the association, Mrs. Rose Obi made the commendation in a separate interaction with newsmen at Effurun recently.
Ifoghere who lauded Governor Okowa for his administrative prowess, noted that Delta State was well organized in terms of education, just as he also asserted that the system of resumption of schools in the state was unique.
“Today is not like the first day of resumption in all the private schools I went to. The turn out for resumption was impressive because the pupils and students were tired of staying at home after six months,” he stated.
The Chairman advised parents to provide all needed for the resumption of their wards to avoid further loss of time for those that might be sent home for failure to pay school fees.
He however appealed to Governor Okowa to consider the resumption of nursery schools, assuring that the schools were safer for children than at home due to adherence to directives aimed at spreading the extent of COVID-19 at schools.
On her part, Mrs. Obi noted that teachers were excited about seeing their pupils and students after six months of absence.
While urging parents to provide their wards with face masks and sanitizers, she urged teachers to work harder to cover for the lost period.
Mrs. Obi also pleaded that nursery schools should resume as she also assured that measures against the spread of COVID-19 were already in place for the safe resumption of nursery school pupils.
