Mob Burns 16 Travelers in Edo State After Calling Them Kidnappers

A terrible thing happened in Edo State, Nigeria. A group of 16 travellers was attacked and killed by an angry mob because people wrongly believed they were kidnappers.

The travelers, who were mostly hunters from Northern Nigeria, were on their way from Port Harcourt to Kano for a festival when they were stopped by security groups and local vigilantes in Uromi. Some people saw their hunting guns and thought they were dangerous criminals. Instead of calling the police, they raised an alarm, which made people very angry.

The mob quickly attacked the travelers, burned their truck, and even threw some people into the fire. It was a horrible and tragic event.

Some police and security officers arrived, but it was too late to save most of the victims. However, four people survived and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The police have arrested five suspects and are investigating what happened.

The Hausa community in Uromi held a meeting to try to keep peace and stop any further violence. The Edo State Police are still gathering more information about the incident.

This tragedy shows why it’s important not to jump to conclusions and always let the police handle crime properly.
