Mass Protest in Ibusa! Youths Accuse LGA Chairman, Commissioner of Election Fraud

By Ajuwa Victor

In Ibusa, Delta State, Nigeria, young residents are raising alarms over potential interference in their upcoming youth election. They allege that Hon. Chief Innocent Esewezie, Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, and Barr. ThankGod Trikiriowei, Delta State Commissioner for Youths Development, are attempting to manipulate the election process by imposing a preferred candidate.

To voice their concerns, the youths have organized a peaceful march from Ibusa to the Government House. They are calling for a transparent and fair election, free from political influence. Comrade Ifeanyi Asiodu, the outgoing chairman of the Ibusa Youths Council, has appealed to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to intervene and avert any potential unrest in the community.

During the protest, the youths will display placards with messages such as:

  • “Ibusa Youths Losing Trust in Innocent Esewezie”
  • “Enough is Enough!”
  • “Hon. Innocent Esewezie, Stop Destabilizing Our Community!”
  • “Our Future is Not for Sale!”

What the Youths Are Saying

In a letter addressed to the Governor and the State House of Assembly, the youths detailed their grievances. They accused Hon. Esewezie of inciting unrest by fueling a crisis that could escalate into violence. They urged the Governor to act swiftly to prevent the situation from worsening.

Their letter read in part:
“We bring to your attention a pressing issue in Ibusa. Certain individuals are attempting to disrupt the peace of our community. We respectfully request your intervention to investigate and convene a meeting to resolve this matter amicably before it spirals out of control.”

The youths cautioned that without prompt action, the community could face a severe crisis. They stressed their commitment to safeguarding their rights and ensuring that the election results are not tampered with.

The community now awaits the Governor’s response, hoping for measures that will guarantee a fair and peaceful election.
