Rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot linked to the killing of Lul Pab, a friend of fellow rapper Quando Rondo. According to police records, Lil Durk was detained on Thursday at the Broward County Correctional Facility in Florida and is currently awaiting extradition to California, where he will face federal charges.
The 32-year-old rapper is being held without the option of posting bail, and a mugshot released by authorities shows him standing against a gray background wearing a yellow T-shirt. The charges against Lil Durk follow the fatal shooting of Lul Pab on August 19, 2022, when he and Quando Rondo were attacked while pumping gas at a station in Los Angeles. Lul Pab was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital after the suspects fled the scene in a white sedan.
Lil Durk’s arrest comes after federal charges were brought against five members of his music group, Only the Family (OTF). The individuals, identified as Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, are accused of being involved in the 2022 shooting, with the primary target believed to be Quando Rondo.
The motive for the alleged plot is thought to be connected to the 2020 murder of rapper King Von, who was a close friend of Lil Durk. King Von, 26, was killed in Atlanta after a confrontation with Quando Rondo’s group escalated into a violent shootout. He was shot multiple times and later died in the hospital. Authorities suspect the incident spurred the alleged murder-for-hire plot involving members of OTF.
Court filings from the U.S. District Court, obtained by Music Times, indicate that a member of the OTF group allegedly offered financial incentives to individuals willing to kill Quando Rondo. Among the serious accusations against Lil Durk and others are involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme that led to a death and the use of a machine gun during the incident. If convicted, the most severe charges could carry a death penalty.
The case continues to unfold as Lil Durk awaits his transfer to California, and legal proceedings are expected to shed more light on the alleged plot.
