American rapper, Kanye West, has filed a suit to officially change his birth name to ‘Ye’.
It was gathered by TMZ that, born Kanye Omari West, has appealed to the Los Angeles courts to change his birth name to simply ‘Ye’.
The 44-year-old rapper had in September 2018 suggested that he intended to shorten his name, this is coming months after he used the moniker as the name for his eighth album, which he released in June 2018.
Kanye has once shown pride in his West family roots, which he often referred to himself as Mr. West in both song and person.

TMZ also reported that in California unless there’s evidence a name change is designed to commit fraud or other shenanigans, the judge will approve it. So with this, Kanye would likely get a sign-off by the judge.
Meanwhile, his estranged wife, the mother of his kids, Kim, still has ‘West’ in her surname after the couple filed for divorce.
The couple had four kids; North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, in their almost seven years of marriage. They tied the knot on May 24, 2014.
