Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has asked the Edo State Government to show the people responsible for killing 16 travellers in Uromi, Edo State.
Governor Yusuf said this when he welcomed Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who visited Kano to offer condolences. Most of the victims were from Kano State.
“Our people were traveling from Port Harcourt through Edo when they were attacked. Many were hurt, burned, and killed,” Yusuf said sadly.
He thanked Governor Okpebholo for acting quickly by visiting the crime scene and making sure the victims were buried properly. He also praised the security agencies for making arrests and urged that justice must be done.
“Kano people trust you. We ask that the suspects are not only arrested but also shown to the public so that everyone can see who did this terrible crime,” Yusuf stated.
Governor Yusuf also warned against revenge and said that all Nigerians should live peacefully together.
Governor Okpebholo assured the people of Kano that justice would be served. He said 14 suspects had already been arrested and were being sent to Abuja for more investigation.
He also said the attack does not represent the true values of Edo State and promised to keep peace between the Hausa community in Edo and the local people.
“The President is very upset about this incident and has ordered security agencies to make sure those responsible are punished,” Okpebholo said.
