June Odika Puts Smiles On Issele-Uku Widows, Distributes Rice, Cloths To Them

By Patrick Ochei

The illustrious daughter of late Rev. Eugene Odika and a philanthropist of repute, Evang. June Odika has indeed been a blessing to widows in Issele-Uku by distributing rice and wrappers to over 500 of them, yesterday 24th December, 2019, at the Issele-Uku Royal Palace where the event took place.

The woman of God who has been carrying out this function for several years now, is reputed to putting smiles on the widows annually through her foundation – Widows For Christ (WFC).

Speaking to Anioma Trust correspondent at the end of the prayer session, admonition and distribution of the gifts, the Godsent woman of God maintained that the reach-out to widows was a ministry God had called her into.

She said that each year the number that registers with the NGO keeps increasing but she was not perturbed, having the assurance that God who had called her would always make a way and provide.

Odika affirmed that last year when they started sharing rice and discovered that it would not cover the crowd, she had to begin to mop up rice from the house kept for family members and even had to call for more from shops. She stated that based on last year’s experience, the budget was increased this year but even at that, the crowd also increased.

She gave God the glory for providing for her to be able to meet up with this annual sacrifice of love, adding that as long as the Lord reigns and remains faithful, widows in Issele-Uku would not have reasons to cry during Christmas celebration.

The Evangelist advised that widows should always endeavour to register with the home based coordinators of the NGO to enable them have count of those to reach-out to before the day of sharing of gifts.

The Lagos and London based charitable daughter of Issele-Uku, however, appreciated the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku Kingdom, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka for regularly making the palace available to carry out the function.

She said apart from God ordaining the mission, there is also a royal blessing that supports the gifts to the widows, believing that God who is the God of widows would always bring succour their way, so much so that they would not have reasons to miss their husbands.

Speaking also was the Coordinating Pastor of the Project, Pastor Ejimchukwu Nicodemus of the Holiness Power Bible Ministry a.k.a Operation Destroy, who conducted the prayer session, praise and worship and sermon alongside other ministers of God.

He commended the benefactor of the Widows For Christ beneficiaries, Evang. Odika for yearly responding to the cries of widows in this unusual compassion.

The man of God therefore, urged every privileged person in the community and beyond not to let widows cry for help or have reasons to miss their husbands, maintaining that there is always something little every well meaning individual can do to alleviate the sufferings of widows.

Moreover, the women who were full of joy and praises for the rice and yards of wrappers, prayed for June Odika, for God to continue to replenish her and bless her more and more with grace to continue to carry out the Charity Project.

The Project apart from the mega distribution of foodstuffs and materials to the widows every December, there is a monthly distribution that is usually carried out among the registered widows and those very old and sick at their homes.

The 2019 edition of the Project, Widows For Christ had the mother of Evang. June Odika in attendance, including her siblings, Messrs Jonathan and Ijeoma Odika, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka, Chief Innocent Nwakpati, Engr. Adim Adigwe and others too numerous to mention.
