It is a great injustice for FG to run NDDC without a constituted board – Okowa

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has expressed disappointment over the current situation of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, stating that it is a great injustice to the people of the Niger Delta region for the Federal Government to continue to run the commission without a constituted board.

He said there is a need for President Muhammadu Buhari to reconstitute the board of the NDDC without further delay, adding that the current sole administratorship of the commission is not recognized by the law establishing it.

Governor Okowa made these statements while speaking with his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Governor Udom Emmanuel during the inauguration of roads, bridges, and schools in Agbarho and Oleh on Thursday, April 28, 2021.

Okowa said to continue the development of States in the South-South geopolitical zone, the NDDC board must be reconstituted to allow full representation of all the affected states and to address the various agitations of the countless communities and stakeholders that fall under the jurisdiction of the commission.
