Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, has made a shocking revelation, stating that suspected Boko Haram members and other criminal elements were once discovered on the recruitment lists of both the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.
Wase made the disclosure yesterday during a special plenary session convened to address the worsening state of security across the country.
According to him, intelligence reports previously uncovered names of individuals linked to terrorist networks who had attempted to infiltrate the nation’s security architecture through official recruitment channels.
The former Deputy Speaker said the discovery underscored the urgent need for a more rigorous screening process for security personnel, warning that any gap in due diligence could compromise national safety.
Lawmakers at the session expressed concern over the rise in violent attacks nationwide and called for immediate reforms in the recruitment and vetting procedures of security agencies.
