I’m not married but I am searching for a wife – Iyanya revealed

Popular Nigerian R&B singer and songwriter, Iyanya Mbuk, better known by his stage name as Iyanya, has dealt with the age-long gossips surrounding his marital status.

He said he is still single and searching for a wife.

In the past years, different reports had alleged that the singer was entangled in a secret marriage in his native town in Cross Rivers State.

But Iyanya while speaking on the speculations for the first time said, he is single and searching for a wife. He revealed this to HipTv on Monday in a chat.

According to Iyanya, “I’m not married. I’m single and searching for a wife, not a girlfriend,” he said.

Earlier this month, Iyanya was appointed the senior special assistant (SSA) on tourism and entertainment to Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River state.

The music star also spoke on what he intended to achieve with the new political position.

“What that means is that I have to use all that I have to bring and shine some light to make sure that the entertainment and tourism are doing well. This is my obligation,” he said.

The Afropop singer hit the limelight after winning the second edition of MTN Project Fame, a music talent show, in 2008.

He had started his music career in the R&B genre, where he thrived with ‘Love Truly’ and ‘Iyanya’, two hit songs on ‘My Story’, his 2009 album.

Following the underwhelming accomplishment of the previous singles and the lack of commercial acceptability, Iyanya subsequently switched to Afropop.

After a journey with MMMG, a record label he co-founded with Ubi Franklin, Iyanya left the music label to launch his own in 2016.

However, the singer last week returned to the staple of MMMG, reuniting with Franklin after five years.
