Lagos, Nigeria — The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has promised to punish those responsible for leaking an indecent video of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, also known as Comfort Bob, after a dramatic incident aboard an Ibom Air flight.
Keyamo, in a strongly worded statement titled ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: READING THE RIOT ACT ON AVIATION SAFETY AND SECURITY, condemned the public release of footage showing the passenger partially unclothed, saying it was “totally unacceptable” and a “debasement of womanhood.”
The incident happened on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air Flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos at 2:54 p.m. According to the minister, Emmanson refused to switch off her phone during take-off, which violates international civil aviation safety rules. When crew members insisted, she allegedly became violent, physically assaulting both flight crew and ground staff.
Keyamo said he immediately contacted the Commissioner of Police at the Airport Police Command, the Director-General of the NCAA (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority), the Managing Director of FAAN (Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria), and Ibom Air officials.
The NCAA has now imposed an indefinite flight ban on Emmanson, covering both local and international flights. She was also arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates Court on criminal charges and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Facility after failing to provide sureties.
While Keyamo acknowledged that recording the incident was necessary as evidence for prosecution, he strongly criticised making the video public.
“What is deplorable is to release such evidence containing indecent exposure to ridicule her. We will not fold our arms and tolerate this. I have directed that whoever released that part of the video among the staff should be identified and sanctioned,” he said.
The minister also ordered airlines to strengthen staff training on how to handle disruptive passengers and announced a security meeting next week to improve coordination among agencies in such cases.
Nigerians have reacted with outrage online, condemning both Emmanson’s behaviour and the release of the video, which showed her bare breasts while she was being dragged out of the plane by airport security.
SaharaReporters confirmed that she remains in custody at Kirikiri Correctional Facility as legal proceedings continue.
