I Remain The Onishe of Ubulu Uku Kingdom – Emma Ejiofor

The king maker (Onishe) of Ubulu uku kingdom in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State, Chief Emma Ejiofor, has affirmed that he remains the Onishe and anyone parading himself is playing with fire.

Chief Ejiofor made these pronouncements on Tuesday in Asaba while conversing with Journalists about the speculations that another ‘Onishe’ has been installed in the Ubulu-Uku kingdom.

He added that nobody has the right to proclaim or assume the title or position of The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku kingdom in Aniocha South LGA while he is still alive even though the person is from his kindred.

According to him, the titles in the community are shared based on the quarters in the community and each title rotates within the kindred as no one is hereditary except the kingship which moves from a father to his first son.

He said the community is practising a monarchy system which he pointed out that anyone who is not from his family and is pronouncing himself as the Onishe or accepting such a title or position should be ready to face the consequences because such a person is only calling for death upon himself as it is sacrilegious to even think of it or to assume it.

Chief Emma Ejiofor put in words that the community cannot have two ‘Onishe’ at a time just as two kings cannot be on the throne, stating that it takes the throne to have an ‘Onishe’ and it takes an Onishe to have a king at the throne.

He said “Nobody has the right to take it even from my kindred. Nobody has the right to even assume that position while I am still alive. If you go to my community, we are not like other social communities, we are a traditional community.”

“When you come to Ubulu and you greet anybody with his title, one will know where the person is coming from. Titles are shared within the kindreds and nobody interlocks with another person’s title as none is hereditary, they rotate within the families.”

“Only one title is hereditary because we operate what is known as the monarchical system, that is the kingship. The kingship moves from father to the first son, not the second. We operate the ‘Diokpaship’, the eldest. So for an insane man to come up and say he is assuming when he is not from my kindred, I think that person is just asking for death without missing words.

“It’s sacrilegious for you to even think of it, not to talk less of assuming it. I didn’t stop anybody who wants to die not to die because if you have your money and you want to go buy poison at the pharmacy, I won’t stopped you. As far as I am concerned and the community is concerned, nobody assumes that position when I am still alive even when the person is from my kindred because we do not have two ‘Onishe’ at a time as two kings cannot be on the throne.”

“I urged all Ubulu Uku people to remain resolute as they have their king, Umuogochukwu Edward Ofulue, who is the first son of Obi Edward Ofulue ll, the late king of Ubulu-Uku kingdom.”
