The former head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, which was suspended for his involvement in a fraud crime, Abba Kyari, has appeared before the Special Investigation Panel, headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike.

According to a source who does not want his name disclosed said the SIP ended its session around 8 pm, while added that the panel started sitting on Monday.
The source said, “Kyari appeared before the panel members today (Tuesday) during which he presented his defense to the indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the SIP members.
Recall that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI alleged that Hushpuppi gave the suspended officer N8 million as a bribe to foster the arrest and imprisonment of his rival, Chibuzor Kelly Vincent after they fell out over a $1 million fraud deal.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission, PSC over the weekend suspended Kyari for his indictment in the fraud crime. On Monday, August 2, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, replaced Kyari with DCP Tunji Disu.
