How Police Uncover Illegal Alcohol Factory, Retrieve Stolen-vehicle In Delta

The Delta State Police Command has uncovered an illegal factory where fake alcohol is been produced and also announced the recovery of a stolen car in the state.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP. Bright Edafe, Ag, in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, April 29, in Asaba.

It was gathered that on Friday, April 16, 2021, the commander of Delta State Police Command Special Anti Cult Unit, SP Christopher Igbaji, after intelligence gathering at about 8:30 pm mobilized operatives from SACU on a sting operation together with the civilian anti-cult volunteer corps and arrest one Kenneth Ajie ‘m’ of Amadaga village at Ovwia in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State and uncover an illegal factory where fake alcohol is been produced.

According to the suspect during interrogation alleged that he produces these fake wines without any license in his house and then sell the wine for the sum of N300 per bottle and three thousand six hundred nairas (#3600) per carton, stating that he bottles the wine himself, and also confesses that he uses bottles that have already been used and dispose of.

The suspect further confessed that he buys these bottles at Ten Naira (#10) per bottle and also buys the cork from the open market, according to his claims, he washes the bottles himself, cork the wines himself, and sells to members of the public, adding that he works alone and produces about one to three cartons daily.

However, the case is still under investigation while exhibits recovered from him include bottles of the drinks suspected to be fake alcoholic wine.

In another incident that happened in Warri, it was gathered that on Thursday, April 28, 2021, policemen from ‘A’ Division Warri receive a distress call from one of the police constabulary attached to ‘B’ Division at about 1:20 am that four suspected armed robbery gang in a Toyota Canmry (Pencil light) were operating at Ubor axis in Warri.

Immediately, the DPO ‘A’ Division, CSP T. Y. Mahmud swiftly responded, mobilized, and led the anti-crime patrol team in search of the hoodlums as they were later sighted between Ogwangwe and NPA, the police engaged them in a hot chase to Iyara where they (hoodlums) eventually abandoned the Toyota Camry Registration no. TE845 AAA, a car belonging to a renowned journalist, Felix Ekwu that was stolen at Ekuremu street in Warri on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

However, during the escape, several gunshots were released towards their escape route as it is believed that they went with bullet injuries after they abandoned the car with one locally made single barrel gun loaded with one live cartridge.

Also, the DPO ‘A’ Division further led men for a search party, where they recovered shoes, neck chain and phones charging chords at the escape route, meanwhile, the Iyara vigilante and indigenes of Iyara were also put on red alert to be on the lookout as effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing robbers while the vehicle has been recovered.

Meanwhile, The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, PSC+ has promised to deliver and do everything possible to free the state from the hands of criminals while also commend men of the force for taking the battle against crime.
