The Senator representing Bayelsa West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Seriake Dickson, has commended the Nigeria Police Force for performing their best despite frustrating welfare and functional challenges.
Sen. Dickson made the commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Usman Baba.
This was made known in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Frank Mba on Friday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Dickson explained that the visit was in solidarity with the police over the dastardly and criminal acts of terrorism unprovoked and coordinated attacks on the force.
Dickson condemned the murder of innocent police officers and the violent wreckage of security assets among other government infrastructure in various parts of the country.
The Senator, a two-time former governor of Bayelsa State called for the extinction of all elements of criminality and unpatriotic act against the police and government infrastructure in the country.
Also, the Senator mentioned that the police were not the problem of the country stating that they should not be seen as the enemy.
While felicitating with the new IGP on his appointment, Dickson also called for proper funding of the Force to improve its functioning.
The IGP in response commended the Senator for his solidarity and promised to continue devoted to its task of protecting lives and properties despite the insecurity in the country.
