Gunmen killed security officers, burnt their patrol vehicle

An incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, had left Chief Superintendent of Police, Benedict Okoh Ajide, and other military officers killed by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the same local government area where the Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio came from.

According to the source, the policemen and the soldiers were said to be in the community for peacekeeping efforts.

The source said, ‘unknown gunmen attacked some police officers and soldiers today and their Hilux vans were also set ablaze.”

The source also revealed that some yet-to-be-ascertain military officers were also killed leaving many others injured.
