Gunmen attack security locations in Rivers, killed seven policemen

Despite the curfew imposed by the Rivers State Government, on Friday, May 7, gunmen in a security outfit attack different police posts in the state and killed seven policemen that are on duty.

It was gathered that the incident happened at 10 pm when two police stations in Obio-Akpor and Emuoha Local Government Areas were attacked.

During the attack at Elimgbu police station, three police officers were killed, while at Romaji, the Divisional Police Headquarters, two officers were also killed and a police patrol van was set ablaze.

It was also gathered that in another attack, the gunmen further attacked a security outpost known as C41 along the East-West Road and two police officers were also killed.

However, the Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident but did not give further information about the attacks.

Also, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, confirmed the attacks while leading a team of operatives to the various locations to ascertain the situation.
