On Sunday afternoon, some gunmen invaded a community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state and killed a yet-to-be-confirmed number of people while others sustained injuries.
It was gathered that the gunmen opened fire on residents before being met face to face by security operatives.
During the invasion, many people were reportedly injured and several buildings were also destroyed.
As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mike Abattem, is yet to react to calls to verify the incident.
Recall, that the state has been the victim of multiple onslaughts by gunmen.
The recent one happened days after an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was shot dead in Ihitte Uboma LGA of the state.
Two other INEC officials were alleged missing in the attack which occurred last Thursday. But they were later found.
It was also gathered that the development has led to the commission suspending the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise in the LGA.
