Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, (GCUOBA), Asaba branch, has elected a seven-member executive led by Engr Mariner Gabriel Fuludu, to pilot its affairs for the next two years.
Engr Fuludu, the current Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Transport, was elected unopposed, at the association, ‘s monthly meeting held on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, in Asaba.
At the well-attended monthly meeting cum election which was conducted by Senior old “boys” of the very prestigious secondary institution in the persons of Chuks Aguonye, the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Security Services, Government House, Asaba, Snr Mariners Emmanuel Obaigbona( Chairman), Majiri Okaroh and Emeka Oforgu, with the supervision of the National Executive Committee (NEC), represented by the national Treasurer, Robert Oviri, the process was adjudged by members to be free, fair and transparent.
In his acceptance speech, the new President of the GCUOBA Asaba branch, Engr Mariner Gabriel Fuludu, pledged to take the association’s fortunes a notch higher.
He paid glowing tributes to his predecessor, Engr Mariner Mike Dottie, FNSE, for ably piloting the affairs of the association over the past four years of his legal two years each in office, along with his executives, describing the outgone President as an epitome of personal sacrifice towards the welfare of members.
While urging all members of the branch to support his executives in the task of delivering on its mandate, the new President pledged to run an all-inclusive administration that will be amenable to constructive suggestions in the task of moving their alma mater forward.
He therefore thanked the entire members of the association for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years in the first instance, describing it as a call for service.
Other executives elected at the election include Engr Obas Okekeri ( Vice President ), Mariner Ken Agwemuria ( Secretary) and Aloku Felix ( Asst Secretary).
Others are Mariners Kenneth Okoro ( Fin Sec), Jeffrey Okpoto ( Treasurer) and Comrade Mariner Andy Emephia ( Publicity Secretary).
