The Nigeria Governors Forum has announced its decision to meet on Wednesday to discuss the issue of implementing the controversial Order 10 which grants financial autonomy to the judiciary and the legislature.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the NGF Head of Media and Publicity, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, on Monday, May 17.
According to the statement, he noted that the meeting would also consider updates on fiscal transparency and accountability reports with the concern about the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also, he noted that the meeting will cover lessons for states and actions for governors on sustainability as regards the adoption of SaaS E-procurement.
Bello-Barkindo further noted that the Director-General of the NGF, Asishana Okauru, will give feedback on the series of the Executive Order 10 meetings with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, about the ongoing industrial action by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria.
But in regards to the implementation of Order 10, the chairman of the Governors Forum and Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, has given the assurance that governors are willing to implement the order which will grant financial autonomy to both the judiciary and legislature stating that the process will commence by the end of May.
Meanwhile, in the statement, it was revealed that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, will be invited to brief the NGF on the second phase of Farmers Enumeration also with the Director-General of Bureau for Public Enterprise, Alexander Okoh, who will be presenting to the forum about the unlocking liquidity through sales/optimization of state-owned redundant/sub-optimal assets.
The statement further revealed that the NGF PTF committee led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State that was charged with the responsibility of liaising between the committee and the forum will also brief the meeting on health matters arising from the third wave of Covid-19.
