Gov. Obaseki Expresses Satisfaction inspecting 8.3km Road Project (Photos)

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing dualization of the 8.3km road project in Ekehuan.

He said his administration remains committed to delivering quality roads that will stand the test of time.

The governor while inspecting the project, revealed this to newsmen on Monday, February 22, 2021.

According to him, there is a lot of progress in the project and the contractor has to remain focus to take advantage of the dry season. While also stating that the funding for the work is already in the bank.

He said that the contractors were anxiously taking advantage of the dry season.

In his words, he said; “Now that we have the dry season, we should get the contractors to move faster on the level of work; they have assured me they will. Unfortunately, the funding for the work is already in the bank.

He went further to say that, ” You see the quality of the drainage that is being constructed; if you don’t drain the land properly, the roads will not last.

He also stated that “One of the challenges of the past is doing a whitewash design to make one believe that the road would be of good quality, whereas the road will not last beyond a couple of seasons.

He stated that “It is important that we scientifically undertake proper drainage of the environment before constructing and covering the surface of the road.

While commending the project, Mr. Ferguson Enabulele, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure assured residents that the first three kilometers of the road would be asphalted before the end of April.
