The Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has mandated officers to impound any risky vehicles.
The Zonal Commanding Officers and Sector Commanders have been directed to prosecute and arrest owners or operators of risky vehicles.
According to the statement on Tuesday, the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem stated that the clamped down was an effort to reduce road crashes across the country.
The statement further revealed how FRSC intends to lower the level of road crashes in 2021 by 15 percent while fatalities by 20 percent.
The agency also advised the public to report any risky vehicles sighted on the road via toll-free number -122. Adding that poorly maintained vehicles are the causes of traffic flow.
In his words, he said, “If drivers and vehicle owners will adhere to the constant maintenance of their vehicles, the safety of lives and properties will be enhanced”
However, the statement also notes the seizure of vehicles, payment of fines as compulsory for road safety education.
He went further to say that severe punishment awaits anyone that is been apprehended.
