While emergency responders are still on the ground trying to rescue workers trapped under the rubbles of a 21-story building that collapsed in the Ikoyi area in Lagos.
Goldennationblog.com gathered that the incident happened around 2 pm on Monday and no fewer than four people have been rescued while four others were brought out dead from the rubbles at the 21-story building that collapsed on Gerard Road, Ikoyi in Lagos State.
The building was said to be under construction when it collapsed on the construction workers and other persons including the owner of the building.
According to a witness who spoke with journalists, Morris Ashiru said he and his friend came to work at the construction site, and they were working when the incident occurred.
He said a lot of people, including the owner of the building, were still trapped under the ruins.
“Everybody was working. A lot of people came here from Abuja,” he said.
“The owner of the building is inside. He brought some clients to inspect the building.”
Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, the rescue team comprising the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the police, and the army are still working to clear the rubble and are also searching for survivors.
Also, the deputy governor of Lagos, Obafemi Hamzat, and Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police were at the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot inspection.
