Federated Association of Aniocha and Oshimili Students Issues Public Notice to Warn Against Unauthorized Leadership Claims

Asaba, Delta State, the Federated Association of Aniocha and Oshimili Students (FAOS) has issued a public notice addressing an alleged attempt to illegally assume leadership within the organization. According to FAOS, Mr. Sindi Mathias Chigozie, a postgraduate student at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State, is reportedly planning to install himself as the President of the National Association of Aniocha and Oshimili Students—an action FAOS denounces as unauthorized and fraudulent.

This planned installation was reported in The Pointer newspaper on October 30, 2024, in a statement made by Comrade Excel Okwuokei, a student at the University of Delta, Agbor. The ceremony is allegedly scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Melrose Hotels in Asaba, Delta State.

FAOS clarified the following in its public notice:

  1. The organization’s official and duly registered name is the Federated Association of Aniocha and Oshimili Students (FAOS).
  2. FAOS is a legally registered body with an existing Board of Trustees that oversees its affairs.
  3. Mr. Sindi Mathias Chigozie and those supporting him have no formal recognition from the FAOS Board of Trustees and are, therefore, labeled as impostors and unauthorized actors.
  4. The election of a National President has not been approved by FAOS’s Board of Trustees, nor has it been a topic in any official meetings or general assemblies.
  5. FAOS confirmed that a legitimate election process is scheduled for December 2024 at the National Congress, at which time the selection of a National President will be determined.

The association urges the general public to disregard any claims to leadership by unauthorized individuals and to refrain from attending or participating in any events related to this alleged self-installation.

FAOS has stated that steps are being taken to legally prevent any individual from assuming or presenting themselves as the President or executive members of the association without due process.
