Favour Ofili’s Hard Work Pays Off with New 150m World Record in Atlanta

Favour Ofili, the talented sprinter from Port Harcourt, has shown the power of hard work and determination by breaking the women’s 150-meter world record at the Adidas Atlanta City Games on Saturday.

At just 22 years old, Favour ran the race in an incredible 15.85 seconds, smashing the previous record that stood for seven years by nearly four seconds! This amazing achievement shows how far she has come through training, focus, and belief.

Favour started the race strong, taking the lead after just 50 meters, and she never looked back. She crossed the finish line well ahead of the competition, including second-place Tamari Davis, who also ran her personal best.

What makes this record even more special is that Favour became the first woman ever to run the 150 meters in under 16 seconds. This milestone is a huge step forward in women’s sprinting.

After the race, Favour shared how her faith and trust in her coach’s plan helped her reach this goal. She said, “I’m surprised by my time, but I know it’s because of the hard work and the right training.”

She also revealed a simple secret: she was advised to relax and run the race as if it was a 100-meter sprint, which helped her finish strong.

Favour is no stranger to breaking records—last year she set the African record for the 200 meters with a time of 22.36 seconds at a major meet in Arkansas.

Her success is an inspiring example of what can be achieved with dedication and belief, and many will be watching to see what she does next.
