The police in Adamawa State have arrested two brothers, Ibrahim Abdulmalik (27) and Aliyu Abdulmalik (18), for allegedly killing a 10-year-old boy named Abdalla Lawali.
Abdalla was an Almajiri—a child who attends a traditional Islamic school to learn about religion. In some cases, Almajiri children are sent far from home and may have to beg or do small jobs to survive.
The police reported that the two suspects beheaded Abdalla, buried his head in their house, and dumped his body in a sack at another location. The crime happened on March 7, 2025, in Jada Local Government Area.
After Abdalla was reported missing, the police investigated and found the decomposed body on March 16, 2025. When the suspects were caught, they confessed to the crime but claimed the Devil made them do it.
The police have promised to ensure justice is served.
