The Edo State Government has ended 10 road contracts to ensure better quality and faster completion of projects.
The decision was made after a meeting at the Government House in Benin City. Paul Ohonbamu, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, explained that the contracts were canceled to avoid confusion, improve standards, and make sure the work is done properly.
Contractors Will Be Paid for Work Done
Ohonbamu said the government will check how much work each contractor has completed and pay them accordingly. He assured that the cancellation was not a punishment.
“The government will not withhold money from those who have worked. We will assess their work and pay them what they deserve,” he said.
He also mentioned that 10 contractors from the previous administration, who are still working on projects, will receive payments based on their performance.
New Road and School Projects Approved
The government has approved new road construction in Ovia North East, Esan North East, and Oredo Local Government Areas.
Additionally, the government plans to renovate rundown public schools across the state. Ohonbamu said Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration is committed to improving education by creating a better learning environment.
“In just four months, the governor has laid a strong foundation for better roads, schools, and overall development in Edo State,” he added.
The government promises to keep working on infrastructure and human capital development to improve the lives of the people.
