The leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has been commended by Omo N’Oba Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin in Edo state.
The well-known monarch commended Wike after the governor and some bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid him a courtesy visit in his palace to seek blessing for the reelection of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Obaseki, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the party, is seeking reelection on the platform of the opposition party.
In a statement by Paulinus Nsirim, Rivers commissioner for information and communication, Oba Ewuare said he has been following the leadership style of the Rivers governor.
Wike is the chairman of the State PDP national campaign council for the Edo state gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on September 19, 2020.
The Edo monarch also commended Wike for his dauntless courage in rescuing Joi Nunieh, former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
On his part, Governor Wike thanked the monarch for his hospitality and promised his continued respect for the traditional institute.
He promised to return to the palace on a thank you visit after the victory of the party in the forthcoming election.
